Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge Snub Android 7.0 Nougat For 7.1.1 Nougat; S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Note 5 Update To Follow

South Korean tech company Samsung recently announced that their Galaxy S7, S7 Edge handsets will skip the Android 7.0 Nougat update and go directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat in early 2017. The latest update for the Android mobile OS is also imminent for Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Plus and the Galaxy Note 5.

Samsung previously planned to have the Android 7.0 Nougat on its flagship Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. A test was conducted on a beta program for the mobile OS. Then the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update came and Samsung chose for the latter version for its handsets.

Mobile phone carriers such as Vodafone Australia have already received final builds for Android Nougat 7.1.1., which they can test on next-generation handsets such as the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Phone Arena reported that the update for the Samsung flagships is almost complete.

The Android 7.0 Nougat mobile OS was initially launched as a pre-loaded software on Google Pixel and Pixel XL devices. Nougat 7.0 can be installed on Google-built devices such as Google Pixel C, Nexus 9, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, and Nexus 5X.

More mobile device manufacturers joined the Android 7.0 Nougat bandwagon including Huawei and HTC. The Chinese tech company will be releasing Nougat 7.0 update on the Huawei Mate 8 and Huawei P9 in early 2017. HTC's One A9, One M9 and HTC 10 phones will have the Nougat 7.0 before 2016 ends.

Xiaomi will also have the Android 7.0 Nougat update on its Mi 4c, Mi 4s and Mi Note phones. The Chinese smartphone maker is already conducting a beta test for Nougat 7.0. Android 7.0 Nougat update is now also available for Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus smartphones in the U.S. Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus are expected to receive Nougat update in 2017.
