Muslim Malian Hero Saved 15 During An Islamic Terror Attack on Jewish Deli In Paris
One 24-year-old Muslim hero from Mali saved 15 on Friday at a kosher grocery store in Paris. Lassana Bathily, who works at a Jewish deli, the Hyper Cacher kosher supermarket, took 15 people downstairs to the store when Islamic terrorist Amedy Coulibaly stormed it.
For three hours Bathily hid them during the siege, according to foxnews.com. He escaped the building through a goods lift and could tip off the cops about important information regarding the events inside, as well as the hide-outs of the hostages.
"I came down running toward the freezer and opened the door," Bathily explained through a translator. "There were several people with me. I turned off the light and the freezer. Amongst the people who were with me, there was a two-year-old child as well."
"I put them inside the freezer, closed the door and told them, 'Stay calm. I will go out.' I went up, I looked everywhere. I didn't see the hostage-taker," Bathily said. "When they came out, they congratulated me. They told me, 'Thank you, really.' I said, 'It's nothing. That's life.'"
Bathily has been praised for his quick-thinking and bravery after 15 hostages, which reportedly included two children, escaped the ordeal, in which gunman Amedy Coulibaly was killed as he attempted to flee, according to dailymail.com.
When the police stormed in and put an end to the terror, four of the hostages were killed.
All over the world his picture has been tweeted. Called the Malian Muslim and a hero, he is now looked upon as a symbol of the "good" people who hold hands against terrorism. There are people calling for him to be given a French Medal of Honour for his bravery.
Meanwhile, the police continue to search for Coulibaly's partner and conspirator Hayat Boumeddiene.
The Jews fear for their lives in France, and many leave the country, as they feel that they are "finished".
