Taylor Swift made the headlines this week as the "Blank Space" singer celebrated her 27th birthday last Tuesday. However, his ex-boyfriend John Mayer may have forgotten her special day and allegedly tweeted that Dec. 13 is the lamest day. The "Back to You" singer reportedly deleted the tweet but some Twitter users were able to take a screen capture, including Entertainment Tonight's Katie Krause.

"Tuesday, December 13 may be the lamest day of the year, conceptually," tweeted Mayer in the morning of Swift's birthday. The 39-year-old singer could not escape some fans and received several Twitter mentions the following day as reported by Vanity Fair. For this reason, the "Your Body is a Wonderland" singer took to his Twitter account and posted a semi-apologetic update that went, "NOPE. No. Nuh-uh. People I am 39. I am deleting those tweets. Come right at me for doing so. Absolutely no shade."

Mayer, however, also deleted the said tweet and hit back with another Twitter update on Wednesday. In the new tweet, he posted the screenshot of his first statement and captioned it with, "Looks like I shouldn't have deleted this tweet," Fox News reported. It is important to note that the song artist is still denying that he was throwing shade on Swift's birthday.

Swift and Mayer dated back in November 2009 but the affair ended swiftly on February 10, reportedly. After the break up of the two popular singers, Swift came up with a new song called 'Dear John" which was apparently intended for the "Gravity" singer. The song has a prominent line that goes, "Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone. Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?"

What are your thoughts about the series of deleted tweets by Mayer? Do you believe that his posts were not pertaining to Swift's special day? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment below.
