Alan Thicke Dies of Heart attack While Playing Hockey With His Son

Alan Thicke's son Robin Thicke's publicist Careleen Donovon officially broke the news that Alan Thicke died of a heart attack at the age of 69, on Tuesday in Los Angeles. TMZ was the first to report that Thicke died of a heart attack while playing hockey with his son, Carter Thicke.

Tuesday evening Robin Thicke told the Los Angeles Times that his father was,"the greatest man I ever met," and always a gentleman." He went on to say "I saw him a few days ago, and told him how much I love and respect him".

Alan Thicke was born in Kirkland, Canada in 1947. Thicke found success with his musical compositions, writing, and producing for TV.  He was nominated for three Emmy Awards in the 1970s for writing and producing shows. He then shot to fame in acting when he starred in an NBC sitcom "Growing Pains" which ran for seven seasons. He played Dr Jason Seaver, a psychiatrist and a Father of four.

He continued his acting, appearing as a guest star on TV series like "How I Met Your Mother" and this year, 2016, he appeared on "Fuller House" and "This Is Us". He had his own reality show "Unusually Thicke" its second season aired in September 2016 and he died in December 2016.

He worked with Candace Cameron Bure who knew him since she was eight years old. She told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement,

"You couldn't help but smile whenever Alan entered the room," Bure says. "He was kind, gracious, good-hearted and always ready with a humorous story or self-deprecating joke."

She went on to say,

"Alan played my brother's TV dad for 7 years, played my TV dad in a Christmas movie and then played my date on Fuller House," Bure, 40, says. "We couldn't help but laugh on set at the humor in that alone. Alan's last text to me was, 'You're still one of my all-time favorite Cameron children. Hugs... A.T.' I would always tease him about who he liked working with more."

William Shatner Tweeted

"Saddened over the loss of my friend Alan. Condolences to his family."

Edmonton Oilers hockey team wrote on their website,

"RIP to one of the greats ones, Alan Thicke"

With a photo of Thicke and Wayne Gretzky on the ice. Thicke was a huge fan and had been playing since he was five years old.

Celebrities who crossed paths whether musically, the onset of a show or on the ice They all sent their condolences to Thicke's family.

Alan left behind a wife Tanya Callau and three sons, Robin Thicke, Brennan Thicke and Carter Thicke.
