Sony's Platinum Wireless Headset For PS4 Values At $160; See The Amazing Specs & Features, Play 'Uncharted 4' 3D Audio Experience
The $160 Platinum wireless headset by Sony will be launched on January 12, 2017, the company announced today in a PlayStation Blog post. It is utterly expensive as it $159.99USD /$199.99CAD/ €179 /£129.
The premium headset features 7.1 virtual surround sound using, of course, Sony's 3D audio technology. The headset is compatible with PlayStation VR and mobile devices through the 3.5mm audio cable that it comes bundled with, as announced in the PlayStation Blog post.
Sony says the Platinum Wireless Headset "boasts premium construction and materials for extra comfort, as well as enhanced highly positional 7.1 virtual surround sound powered by SIE's proprietary 3D audio technology." Users can enjoy its multi-position, hidden noise-cancelling microphones features for a clearer chat, according to PlayStation Lifestyle.
For players to get excited, a patch for Naughty Dog's "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will add support for 3D audio in January 2017, becoming the first to have it. Other games, including "MLB The Show 17", "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy", and "Days Gone" will also support it, as reported by The Sixth Axis.
Naughty Dog developers shared about how they think 3D audio will enhance the "Uncharted 4" experience. One feature that Naughty Dog has provided is a sequence where Drake is in an attic and Elena calls to him from downstairs. With 3D audio, the player will be able to hear Elena calling from below, boosting the immersion of the scene, director Neil Druckmann says. Topping that feature, players can hear gunfire from all around during shootouts, like the players are actually there at the scene of shooting, according to Game Spot.
"With games, I think for a long time the picture has always been in the forefront of where you see the advances as we go from generation to generation," he added. "But audio has been having these same leaps and bounds."
For those wondering if it works with PlayStation 3, yes it will work wirelessly with [sic] PS3 systems but users will not be able to take advantage of some of the more advanced features. Meanwhile, it a recent update reports that the pricey wireless headset has been sold out.
