'Empire' Season 3 Spoilers, News & Updates: 'A Furnace For Your Foes' Midseason Finale Recap; Jamal Becomes An Addict; Who Is Plotting To Kill Jamal?

In this week's Empire winter finale titled A Furnace for Your Foes, viewers were biting their nails with all the twists and turns dropped before its hiatus. Lucious tried to ruin Cookie's relationship, Jamal's drug addiction worsened, and Andre plotted a plan he would never expect.

The drama started in this episode when Tarik was able to get a judge to sign a court order that would freeze Empire's assets for 30 days. Cookie and Lucious quarreled over the fact that their accounts have been frozen.

He pleaded with Cookie to watch out for Angelo but Cookie refused to listen. He went straight to Tarik and agreed with his plans of freezing the accounts. When Lucious thought he is going to have to revert to some less moral methods in order to get Empire out of this bind with the feds, Shine says he's got $50 million lying around.

He also found out that Shine is still working with Tarik. Whoa. Lucious met Diana at the People's Ball carnival for the latter to make a deal that would destroy Angelo, the mayoral candidate and Cookie's love interest. She wants Lucious to kill a story that would be released the night before election so that it would ruin Angelo's chances of winning. In return, Diana would end Angelo and Cookie's relationship.

Lucious did his part but Diana realized that she actually wants Angelo to win the race, therefore not doing her part in the deal. Lucious was disappointed with the turnout.

More of Lucious, his wife Annika could not have enough of his mother because she has been killing the vibe all throughout her stay in the house. Annika threated Lucious that she will leave if he still decides to make her mom stay in their house.

Cookie discovered that Jamal's drug problems have worsen. She went to his house and demanded for all the drugs that he has in the house. She was surprised by the amount of drugs she poured on the drain, disappointed that her son became dependent on illegal substance.

Just when the discussion on drugs are over, Cookie arrived to the People's Ball with no signs of Jamal. She went to his place again and caught him throwing up. He managed to convince her mother to give him the pills that she drained.

What is happening with the People's Ball? Tiana and Hakeem were on fire at the event with their heat performances. At the end of their performance, the two shared a steamy kiss, making the Takeem fans squeal.

Jamal also killed his performance. After he had his time, the family confronted him and made him go to rehab, on which he agreed. Meanwhile, Andre told Nerissa about his bipolar disorder. To his dismay, Nerissa said that she cannot follow Rhonda's footsteps on taking care of him and he needs to look out for himself.

Again, Andre hallucinated about Rhonda, as he begs her to finally leave him alone. Rhonda told Andre that he should avenge her with the person who killed her and their baby. Watch out, Annika!

As Cookie thought that she would have a happy ending with Angelo, she was shocked to find out that, through reporters, Angelo was in DUI when he was 17 years old and accidentally ran his car to the river, accidentally drowning a girl.

Andre went to Leviticus looking for Shine and they have a plan: Kill Lucious. Empire will return on March 2017, only on Fox.
