"Taken" movies were a success no matter where it was shown world-wide. Even if a veteran actor, Liam Neeson, took the lead role of the FBI agent in the action-film series. Liam Neeson was applauded for his performance as a super skilled and intelligent agent who hunted down human traffickers when his daughter was kidnapped in the first movie. Eight year later, the first "Taken" movie was still a hit.
Released in 2009, the first "Taken" film was directed by Pierre Morel and opened to an impressive $226 million worldwide. Two more sequels, directed by Olivier Megaton, were released in 2012 and 2014 bringing the series gross to over $929 million worldwide, as reported by /FILM.
And now, NBC adapted the "Taken" movies into a TV series. With the same title, the upcoming TV show stars Clive Standen, Jennifer Beals, Brooklyn Sudano, Monique Gabriela Curnen, Gaius Charles, Michael Irby, James Landry Hébert and Jose Pablo Cantillo.
"Homeland" and "Lie To Me" Alexander Cary is the hired writer and executive producer of the TV Series. Luc Besson, Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vésinne, Thomas Anargyros and Director Alex Graves are also its executive producers. In fact, Luc Besson wrote the original film and produced all three films, according to Dark Horizons.
The "Taken" TV Series differ from the film as it is actually a prequel, hence featuring a young Bryan Mills played by Clive Standen of "Vikings". The storyline follows the young Bryan Mills as he is recruited into the CIA after saving a train full of innocent bystanders from a team of deadly gunmen. However, his act of saving also includes a tragic incident as one of the victims is someone close to Bryan. With revenge in his heart, he is motivated to dedicate his life to train and acquire that special set of skills before he becomes the character of Liam Neeson, according to Coming Soon.
"Taken" is produced by EuropaCorp TV and Universal Television and will premiere Monday, February 27 at 10/9c on NBC.
