The new stand alone movie based from Star Wars universe titled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is set to dominate the worldwide box office, according to box office specialists. It is set to compete against Will Smith's Collateral Beauty and Denzel Washington's Fences.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is expected to have a great domestic opening of $135 million to $150 million. Not only that, it aims for a global debut of $300 million to $350 million, based on the computations of box-office observers.
Its film studio, Disney, however, is being more conservative with the predictions. They are expecting $120 million to $150 million domestically, since December isn't historically known for huge box-office openings.
They also estimate overseas estimate is $130 million to $150 million, bringing in a totalworld rldwide tally of $250 million to $300 million. Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the film that revived the film saga back in the pop culture, was the exception to the December usual predictions when it debuted to a record-breaking $529 million worldwide.
Disney has said that they do not expect Rogue One: A Star Wars Movie to match The Force Awakens, since it is a stand-alone film with a new story and new main characters. No one from the cast of the original saga would reprise their role in this spinoff.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards, stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikelsen, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker. The movie will focus on Jyn Erso (Jones) and how she and her unlikely group of heroes will start a rebellion on making a risky move to stealing the design schematics plans of the Death Star, the Empire's new superweapon.
The projections may differ in numbers but one thing is for sure - Rogue One: A Star Wars Movie will dbe the movie to watch out for in the big screens.
