SMITE News, Update: 7 Days of Saturnalia 2016 Event Unveiled
While the likes of Overwatch and Pokemon Go celebrating the expected Christmas-themed event, Smite, the action MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) from Hi-Rez Studios where you literally play as gods from various cultures, is enjoying the holidays a bit differently. Aside from Fafnir's Winter Wonderland patch, Smite has recently announced that they are bringing back their 7 Days of Saturnalia once again. It's a week-long event starting on December 20th until December 26th where players can get free gems, avail Pantheon Chest discounts, and get double the experience and worshipers.
In the previous Smite Saturnalia event, players earned 40 Gems for their first win of the day each day, enjoyed double the experience and worshipers, and availed 50% discount on Pantheon gods, skins, and voice packs. During Saturnalia 2016, Smite players will be instantly granted 25 Gems after completing a Pantheon specific Quest. Quests refresh everyday all throughout the week meaning players can earn up to a total of 175 Gems. Each quest will be only available for 48 hours.
The Smite event was supposed to go live earlier but a discovered bug with the quest system cannot be fixed until Smite's 3.24 patch arrives on Dec. 20. However, Hi-Rez Studios' highly anticipated two-day open bracket tournament, Eager Saturnalia, is just right around the corner. Eager Saturnalia will start on Saturday December 17th for Europe and December 18th for North America, with a massive $10,000 and 32,000 gem prize pool. Interested participants must create a five-man team and battle against another team to honor the Roman god Saturn. Registration is open until Friday December 16th at 5:00 PM EST handled by Team Eager on their website.
If you prefer to watch instead of compete, the Smite tournament will be available for fans on the HiRez main twitch channel. Viewing the Eager Saturnalia event will give you a chance to acquire free Smite content. Just make sure to link your Hi-Rez and Twitch account.
