‘Narcos’ Season 3 Spoilers, Release Date & Cast: Boyd Holbrook Leaving? New Colombian Cartel & Everything Confirmed So Far
"Narcos" Season 3 doesn't have an official premiere date yet but details about the upcoming season are already being revealed. The third season will focus on a new cartel and will feature both new and returning cast members.
Season 3 will pick up after Pablo Escobar's (Wagner Moura) death and will center on the Colombian gang called the Cali Cartel, which served as both Escobar's rival and partner, Deadline reported. "Narcos" already introduced the Cali Cartel as the group behind Los Pepes and they also had a role in Escobar's demise though it was the Narco police that ultimately sealed the drug lord's fate by killing him.
The brothers Gilberto and Miguel are the founders of the Cali Cartel, along with Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann) and someone named Chepe. The latter is said to be an interesting character but more details are yet to be announced.
Arturo Castro has been cast on "Narcos" Season 3 as David Rodriguez, Miguel's oldest son. At first, David didn't want to lead Cali Cartel but found that he has no choice in the matter after his father and uncle were arrested.
Kerry Bishé will also return on "Narcos" Season 3 as Christina, an American who met her Colombian husband in college. When his heavy involvement in the cartel incites trouble for the people around them, Christina backtracks and seeks the U.S. Embassy's help to escape before everything takes a turn for the worst.
Aside from Castro and Bishé, "Narcos" Season 3 will showcase Michael Stahl-David and Matt Whelan as DEA agents who will try to bring them the Cali Cartel. Javier Pena (Pedro Pascal) is also returning.

It's still unsure whether or not Boyd Holbrook would return to "Narcos" Season 3 as Steve Murphy. The actor narrated the first two seasons of the Netflix series.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Holbrook said that they're "still working [his return] out." He said that the real Murphy remained active in the DEA even after Escobar's death and only retired two years ago.
Holbrook said that Escobar's death provided interesting takes for "Narcos." During Escobar's reign, he was delivering drugs straight to Miami but the Cali Cartel chose a different path by giving the drugs to Mexico and allowing them to distribute it across the border. Cali Cartel's strategy evolved other drug gangs such as El Chapo's Sinaloa Cartel.
"Narcos" Season 3 will air in 2017. A fourth season was already confirmed. What do you think of Season 3 so far? Share your thoughts below!
