'Avatar 2' Release Date, Spoilers, News & Update: "James Cameron" Experimenting On New Technology; 'Avatar' Sequels To Be Pushed Back Again?
Sigourney Weaver casts doubt on 2018 release of "Avatar 2" with 4 more sequels to follow. "Avatar" sequels release dates have long been pushed back. Recent reports say that James Cameron is pushing its release towards 2018. However, Sigourney Weaver has misgivings about the target date.
As previously reported, Fox already made bookings on certain dates in 2018. A Lightstorm production owned by James Cameron booked December 21, 2018, the release date for an unknown project. Could this be "Avatar 2" release date?
Speaking at "A Monster Calls" event at AMC Lincoln Square, Sigourney Weaver said that they haven't started filming "Avatar 2" yet. While she questioned whether the date is feasible, she assured fans that the following sequels will be "very exciting." Confirming reports that the four sequels are to be released one year apart, the actress has already read 3 of the four scripts. She teased that they are even more remarkable than the first "Avatar" movie.
In another report, Sigourney Weaver tells more "Avatar 2" details. When asked what James Cameron has been working on all these years, Sigourney Weaver said that James has been working on developing the technology of the upcoming "Avatar" sequels. Since they are doing all four sequels simultaneously, director James Cameron needs to lay the groundwork for all four movies. She also said that while the material is currently being shot already, she can't say which will make it to the big screen as James is still "experimenting."
When asked about more details about the "experiment" that James Cameron is working on, she confirmed that she is part of the phase. For fans of the first "Avatar" movie, she said "hold onto your hats," and that the following movies are more ambitious as ever, and fans may have to wait for the "Avatar 2" premiere. She promises that there is nothing like "Avatar" sequels.
"Avatar 2" will hit theaters in December 2018 followed by three more sequels in December 2020, December 2022, and December 2023.
