Benedict Cumberbatch Marriage Update: Wife Sophie Hunter Expecting First Child

After weeks of speculations, it has now been confirmed that 'Sherlock' star Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancée Sophie Hunter are indeed expecting their first child together.

The 38-year-old British actor's representative told the media that the couple is indeed expecting a baby and the two are very excited to be parents for the first time.

"They are both over the moon," Cumberbatch's representative said.

Cumberbatch and Hunter's engagement was announced in a very traditional way. 'The Imitation Game' star's parents revealed the news in the marriage section of The Times newspaper.

The on-screen detective previously said that marriage wasn't on his priority list yet, but around two months ago showed off his ladylove to the world.

"One thing at a time. I'm playing Sherlock now, just about to start, so my main focus is going to be that," Cumberbatch told Pop Sugar at the red carpet of the palm Springs International Film Festival.

However a source close to the couple told Page Six previously:

"Sophie is a few months along, and both she and Benedict are very excited about it. They are also quietly planning to marry in early spring."

However, the source had said that even though the soon-to-be parents were thrilled about the news, they would reveal it only when Hunter crosses the three-month mark. News of the pregnancy also sent fans into a frenzy on social media. A hilarious post mentioned a timeline comparing the baby's arrival and age to the airing of "Sherlock"
