After Election Recount, Clinton Campaign Wants C.I.A. Information Made Public On Russia Hacking To Help Donald Trump Win; Republicans Call For Investigation, Too

In recent days, the legitimacy of the Donald Trump victory in the U.S. elections has been marred. And, the veracity of the results, favoring the real estate magnate from New York, was called into question, thanks largely to the alleged interference from Kremlin. And, more and more people are calling out some members of the U.S. government to shed light on the issue of Russia's role in trying to undermine the recently held presidential election.

Hillary Clinton's Campaign Team Wants The C.I.A. Assessment Declassified

"We now know that the C.I.A. has determined Russia's interference in our elections was for the purpose of electing Donald Trump," according to Clinton's campaign chairman, John D. Podesta. "This should distress every American. We believe that the administration owes it to the American people to explain what it knows regarding the extent and manner of Russia's interference and this be done as soon as possible."

Podesta also said that they are happy about the ongoing call from some members of the Congress, Democrat or Republican alike, to push for the investigation on the issue, the NYTimes reports. He added that they are in favor of the Senate Intelligence Committee's move to ask for the declassification of the C.I.A. information regarding Russia's role in helping Donald Trump secure the win.

Some of Donald Trump's Party Mates Are In Favor Of The Investigation

According to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the bad blood between the two countries is no secret, and the matter should be taken seriously on the assumption that the Russians do not have the American people's best interest in mind. And, even the Republicans in the Senate must show willingness to be part of the investigation over Russian hacking of the US election to help Donald Trump.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan also expressed his support for the investigation, The Daily Beast wrote. The Wisconsin representative said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been known to be the aggressor that "consistently undermines American interests."

The president and his team, naturally, have a completely different take of the matter. Donald Trump spokesman Jason Miller said that these actions simply intend to delegitimize the clear victory of the president-elect, and they don't believe in the Russian meddling in the US elections.
