Samsung Note 7 Will Be Useless After Samsung's Next Update; Users Can No Longer Use or Charge Phone
Samsung has just confirmed they will be releasing an update soon and it will make all Samsung Note 7 useless. After the update, users can no longer use or charge their phone. Not everyone is pleased with the news, particularly Verizon Communications who said they will not allow the update on their units.
According to Samsung, they have decided to kill all remaining Samsung Note 7 units that have not been surrendered to them by releasing a software update. The exact date when the update will be released has not been disclosed but reports claim it will be sometime in December. After the update, all existing Samsung Note 7 that have downloaded the update will no longer be able to use nor charge their phone. It's basically a useless unit unless other users can find a way to uninstall the update with the help of a professional.
Last September, 2.5 Million Samsung Note 7 were recalled by the company after reports of the unit caught fire due to its batteries. This issue did not only cost the company millions of money but also damaged their name and reputation. Two months after the release of Samsung Note 7, the company has decided to stop its production.
And now with the upcoming update, Verizon Communications have announced they will not allow the update with their units. According to reports, the company is concerned with their consumers who does not have a spare phone to use when the update is released. In a statement released by the company, they have confirmed they "Will not push a software upgrade that will eliminate the ability for the Note 7 to work" Especially now as the Christmas season approaches, not everyone has the time and the money to get themselves a new unit. Verizon Communications do not want their subscribers to have a hard time in contacting their families or professionals from making and taking emergency calls.
