Niantic has just announced that they're releasing new Pokemon in "Pokemon GO" every once in a while starting today. The first two Pokemon released are Togepi and Pichu which can be discovered by hatching eggs. This means more generation 2 Pokemon will arrive soon and this guide will help players know which candies they should save up for.

How to Prepare for Generation 2 Pokemon

The Pokemon from Generation 2 is not just new breeds of Pokemon. There is also new Pokemon evolution from Generation 1 like Eevee, Onyx, Scyther and more. So in order to prepare for this new evolution, players must save up specific Pokemon Candies. So when the Pokemon released can also be acquired through evolution, ''Pokemon GO" players can get them in less than one minute and without the need to hunt.

Pokemon Candies to Save Up For

Some of the most taken for granted Pokemon in Generation 1 are getting new evolution including Poliwag to a Politoed, Zubat to a Crobat, Oddish to Bellossom, and Horsea to a Kingdra. There are also all-time favorite Pokemon that are getting more evolution like Slowpoke to Slowking, Eevee to two more evolution variation Espeon and Umbreon, and Chansey to Blissey. And of course new evolution for Pokemon that didn't have one in the first generation like Porygon to Porygon 2, Scyther to Scizor, and the mighty Onix to Steelix in "Pokemon GO".

It is expected that the maximum candies required for an evolution are 100 Candies just like the ones in generation 1 of "Pokemon GO". Although it wouldn't be surprising if Onix will require more than that to get a Steelix, just like Gyarados. But for Generation 2 Pokemon like Politoes, Crobat, Bellossom and Kingdra, their candies are very easy to get in the game so if players can probably get them as soon as they are released if they save "Pokemon GO" candies now.
