Almost 75 Percent of British Women Think They Look 5 Years Younger: Survey
Many British women aged below 45 think they look five years younger than their real age, finds a survey.
Recently the Lancome Advanced Genefique interviewed 2,000 women aged between 30 and 60 across the country to note their opinion of beauty, skin care and age. The experts found women rated their 'face age' based on the skin condition like presence of wrinkles, blemishes and discoloration. The results revealed 75 percent of the respondents with good and youthful skin thought they looked at least five years younger and one-in-every 10 women felt 10 years younger. But, only less than one percent of surveyed participants agreed they looked their actual age, reports the Standard Media.
In addition, the study also noted 50 percent of the women had inhibitions about their aging and were bothered about how old they appeared. Almost 37 percent of them reported having these apprehensions when they turned 30 and 10 percent were paranoid about looking old when they were still in 20's.
According to the pools, 30 percent of the women 'happily embraced' getting old while 60 percent believed, ' it did not hurt to try to slow down the ageing process'. Around nine percent were keen trying anything to defy age-induced effects on skin.
Participants who had youthful and healthy skin said their happy marriage, having regular beauty regime, healthy diet or good genes was one of their beauty secrets. Some women also cited that drinking a glass of wine frequently and hanging out with younger people helped them retain youthful charm.
However, majority of them agreed a person's lifestyle habits has a huge role on skin aging.
"Our research gives a fascinating insight into just what it is women think helps them stay young. Coupled with a sensible skincare regime, there is no reason women shouldn't go on enjoying their looks well into their seventies," said Victoria Campbell, general manager at the Lancome U.K. and Ireland, reports the Standard Media.
"Interestingly, our research also shows British women over the age of 50 are more confident than ever in their appearance which is great news," she adds.
