It is believed that uBlock origin is a very popular AdBlocker on Google Chrome. It was announced in September this year that extension of uBlock origin will make its way to Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 soon. Now the extension is available in preview form from the Windows store to Microsoft users of Windows 10.

Neowin reports that Microsoft Edge is existing since two years but the official support for the extension was made available after the anniversary update of Windows 10. Popular extensions like AdBlock, LastPass, and AdBlock Plus were available before the anniversary update. On GitHub, project work was under way for a while but the users were not having a convenient experience. In fact, the extension required manual updates along wilt regular re-enablement.

The uBlock origin has brought the convenience of single click installation. It has also introduced background updates associated with UWP apps. The uBlock Origin extension shares almost 95% of the same code found in its Chrome and Firefox counterparts. The platform specific re-work shall be minimized because of Edge's compatibility with Firefox and Chrome extensions.

Users will be able to whitelist many sites. They can use their own filters and rules as they can manage to use the features used to block the ads. MSPoweruser reports that due to preview form of the extension users may come across a couple of issues which can be resolved while submitting a report about it. Hence the developer will be able to fix it with an update in near future.

The uBlock extensions are only available to Windows 10 users who are running the anniversary update. Those who are using the older version are required to upgrade to anniversary update so as to try the uBlock origin and other extensions. Users can download uBlock from Windows store as it is free of cost.
