'Amazon Go' Opens Next Year But Costco Says They Have The Idea 20 Years Ago, Will They File Charges?
The future of shopping conveniently is here, means there is no lines and no registers, Hello to the "Amazon Go". The legal way of entering a store, grabbing what people needs and walking out without making the consumer look like a thief.
One of the problems in today's shopping world is the long waiting lines, crowded stores most probably when its holiday seasons, impolite cashiers and sometimes there are no money changes. So Amazon developed the idea a few years back that walking into the store, grab anything the consumer wants and leave. Together with the idea and added the most advanced machine learning computer vision AI on today's generation they created the "Amazon Go". In order to enter the store, the consumers require on having an Amazon account, Amazon Go Application, and a smartphone.
How does the "Amazon Go" works? It's just an easy one, first use the "Amazon Go" app as an entry to the store and the consumer can now start the future shopping experience. Everything that the consumers grab will be automatically added to the Amazon cart, just simple as that. Using the vision deep learning algorithms and sensor fusion technology, the consumer can just grab what they need without the hassle of scanning anything and the AI will be responsible for detecting the products stocks. After the consumer is done with the shopping, Amazon will charge the personal account that has been used to enter the store and send a receipt.
There was a claim from Costco that they have the same idea from Amazon 20 years ago. From a statement of Richard Galanti, the Costco's chief financial officer said, "In terms of scan-and-go, honestly we did a version of scan-and-go literally 20 years ago". Costco's idea was to use a Radio Frequency gun to scan the consumers own items and hand to the cashier. Amazon idea was more efficient and using the most advanced technology today so there is no filing of charges to be done.
"Amazon Go" will definitely save the time of the consumers but the jobs for the supposed cashiers will be out. The store will hit the neighborhood of Seattle in January.
