'Pokemon Go' News, Updates: Shiny Pokemon and Gen 2 on December 12!
"Pokémon Go" is gearing up for another update for an in-game event, this time for Christmas. It is not ignorable that Niantic got players back to playing its worldwide phenomenon game through the introduction of the Halloween in-game event. This was followed up by the Thanksgiving event. In both cases, players received numerous bonuses for playing the game, as well as tweaks in the spawns of Pokémon that appeared within the duration of the event.
For Christmas, Niantic is promising another huge event, with speculations that they might be introducing generation 2 Pokémon. Accoding to International Business Times, the "Pokémon Go" support company Silph Road had stunning discovies data-mining the current updates on the game. The data-mine revealed the presence of 100 new Pokémon, the exact number of generation 2 Pokémon introduced in the original games. On top of those, the released notes also revealed an improvement in the Pokéstops where the "Pokémon Go" nearby tracker can load Pokéstops without freezing gameplay.
Part of the new features of the 2nd generation of Pokémon in the original games was the introduction of gender. Data-mined reports confirm that Pokémon genders are also coming to "Pokémon Go," meaning that the Lapras players nicknamed Sally may actually be male.
Furthermore, the upcoming updates also feature shiny Pokémon. The shiny Pokémon are rare versions of the original forms of Pokémon with different colour schemes. Though shiny Pokémon might be introduced alongside generation 2, it isn't necessarily attributed to the generation since shiny Pokémon have been around since the original first Pokémon games way back in the 90's.
Avatar customization is also getting a boost, giving players more options to choose from when customizing their own "Pokémon Go" versions of themselves. This will come in handy as a new buddy Pokémon position has been decoded called "baby". Confirmations on these reports have not yet been released along with the actual release dates of these updates.
