Here's How To Get Banned From Uber; Updated Community Guidelines Lay Out "Bad Behavior" To Lose Access From Uber
Uber Community Guidelines were updated on Thursday that includes a list of policies that will disallow riders from using the app. Until recently, the ride-hailing application had clear policies that apply both to drivers and riders. While many riders have had horror stories of their Uber experience, surely drivers have had their fair share of horrible rider treatment as well. This is why Uber added rules that will remove riders' access to Uber in the United States.
The guidelines of how drivers can lose access to Uber has already been in place for many months. Serious circumstances that compromise rider's safety, service quality, fraudulent activities and any form of discrimination are grounds for permanent deactivation of driver account. Drivers are given a fair warning for temporary deactivation. They can take quality improvement course put forth by third-party providers available in most cities in the United States.
Riders' policies, on the other hand, are just as stringent as the drivers'. Uber stated in their Community Guidelines that behavior matters in ensuring continuity of quality service. The ride-hailing app asks both riders and drivers to respect each other, regard personal space and privacy, practice safety precautions, ensure children supervision, and issue accurate driver/passenger rating that reflects the trip experience.
Uber riders or passengers may lose access to Uber in the United States by damaging driver's or passenger's possessions, making physical contact including touching or flirting and other sexual conduct, using inappropriate language or abusive gestures, getting in touch with the driver or passenger after the trip is completed, and illegal activities while using Uber.
Uber clearly has made tons of improvement in the ride-hailing arena. Before, passengers hail taxi cabs randomly, both sharing a feeling of anonymity with an apt glass partition to secure personal space. But, Uber opened doors to a community allowing virtually all car owners to earn money while providing passengers with more options to get a ride. Now, they are trying to define the community guidelines more specifically in ensuring the community stays secured.
