‘Avatar 2’ Release Date, News & Updates: Sigourney Weaver Claims Sequel Script Will Be Way Better Than The First Movie

Although Sigourney Weaver's character, Dr. Grace Augustine died in the first "Avatar" film, it was confirmed that she will indeed return for the sequel. Many fans now ask how writer and director James Cameron will enable to incorporate again the Dr. Augustine for the next instalment.

Weaver shared some details and comments in an interview with Variety. She said that the script is "many times more amazing than the first one in terms of their scope," based on to what she has read so far. Meanwhile, this comment by Weaver got fans excited for the sequel. On other hand, Stephen Lang, who played the villain Colonel Miles Quaritch in "Avatar," is also set to make a comeback in the sequel.

In terms of plot details, little information was released by the production company. However, James Cameron hinted that the second "Avatar" film will introduce Jake and Neytiri's family. Games Spot reported that the storyline will follow the couple and their children, making "Avatar 2" more of a family saga.

More good news to fans, it was indeed confirmed that Cameron's "Avatar" saga is also preparing to make four more sequels after "Avatar 2." All succeeding films will have the closest connection to the original film as much as possible as this is what Cameron wanted, according to Yibada.

Of course, lead stars Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington will be reprising their roles Neytiri and Jake Sully, respectively. From the first film, we already know that in the world of Pandora, Jake is already the chieftain of the clan while Neytiri is the high priestess for Neytiri's father was killed during the attack.

Cameron also teases the fans that they will be awed as the sequel will show further exploration of Pandora, including its underwater and volcanic environments with massive set pieces, as reported by Tripped Media.

"Avatar 2" will be released in theaters in December 2018. Meanwhile, the other following sequels and their release dates were reported are as follows: "Avatar 3" in 2020, "Avatar 4" in 2022, and "Avatar 5" in 2023. The sequels are also penned by Cameron along with Rick Jaffa, Josh Friedman, Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno.
