‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers, News, Update: Mr. Mxyzptlk To Cause A Musical ‘The Flash’ Crossover? Kara Danvers’ Doppelganger Is Powergirl?

"Supergirl" Season 2 is expected to see Mr. Mxyzptlk, a popular mischievous enemy to Superman. The new villain is believed to force The Flash and Superman to race for his amusement. Speculations claimed that the result may set the stage for the planned musical crossover between "The Flash" and "Supergirl."

A report from Comicbook confirmed the appearance of Mr. Mxyzptlk in the next episodes of "Supergirl" Season 2. It was revealed that the fifth-dimensional impish supervillain will occur in two episodes of the show. He is speculated to be interested in who among The Flash and Superman is the fastest man alive so he will apparently employ both heroes to engage in a race.

The race between the two superheroes could result into a destructive complication that will require another crossover between "The Flash" and "Supergirl." For the uninitiated, it was already reported earlier that a musical crossover will take place involving both shows. However, the plot for the said crossover has not been confirmed as of this posting.

Additionally, speculations on what Mr. Mxyzptlk will do in National City and the race between The Flash and Superman have not been proven yet. That said, fans are advised to take them with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, we will see what happens when "Supergirl" Season 2 returns in January 2017.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly had an interview with "Supergirl" Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg hinted that there might be a possibility for the producers to introduce Powergirl in the future. Powergirl is Superman's Kryptonian cousin from Earth-2 in the DC comics. She is also named Kara Zor-El so she could be Kara Danvers' doppelganger from another Earth in The CW series.

After The CW crossover event, fans may wonder if it would be possible for Powergirl to make an appearance in the series. Kreisberg has an interesting answer to that. "We hadn't discussed [introducing Power Girl] formally, but I think that certainly after these three episodes, there's literally no limit to the things that we can do," the executive producer revealed.
