Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are expected to be reuniting in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 as a fan service to Delena fans. Many have been anxiously waiting for their reunion since Dobrev left the show in Season 6.

While The CW drama previously revealed that they are currently in talks with Dobrev regarding her return to "TVD" Season 8, it seems like Somerhalder is stopping her from returning. In an interview with Variety, Somerhalder explained that Damon and Stefan do not deserve to get their happily ever after.

This means that it would not do the story justice if Damon and Elena reunited in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 and walked away with their happy ending. According to Somerhalder, it would not be fair for these two to be happy after all the damage they have done.

"Let Elena wake up and have these boys gone and never know any of this happened," he shared.

It does not seem like Dobrev is also interested in reprising her role in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. As PEOPLE reports, the 27-year-old actress is busy promoting her upcoming film, "xXx: Return of Xander Cage."

It can be recalled that Dobrev decided to leave "TVD" in order to pursue roles in the movie industry. However, series creator Julie Plec said that Dobrev promised to return to the series finale.
