Comedian Stephen Fry to Marry 27-Year-Old Partner Elliot Spencer
English comedian and writer Stephen Fry has confirmed that he is all set to marry his partner Elliot Spencer.
Fry, 57, has already given formal notice to marry 27-year-old Spencer at a register office in Dereham, Norfolk. After The Sun revealed Fry's marriage plans, the actor took to twitter to announce the news, he wrote: "Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I'm very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!"
The couple must wed within one year as the notice period expires in 12 months. Within five minutes of posting the first tweet, Fry posted a second one thanking everyone for their wishes. "Thank you all SO much for your kind congratulations. Deeply touched xxx."
Fry and Spencer have known each other or a long time, but they started dating each other only last summer. The two were pictured together for the first time in November.
Sources close to the comedian say that Fry was battling with depression and loneliness before Spencer came to his life. Fry reportedly said that it was only because of his would-be-husband that he gained "a new lust for life".
'Stephen and Elliott get on brilliantly together. It's fantastic to see Stephen with a smile on his face again. Elliott seems to have given him the confidence to live his life again. It's great to have the old Stephen back,' a source told The Sun, Metro reports.
Fry is a director of Norwich City Football Club. Documents on display in Norwich suggest that the wedding will take place in Breckland Business Centre, BBC reports.
