‘Pokémon GO’ Guide: The NEW 10 Strongest Gym Attackers After Niantic’s Balance Changes

Changes have been introduced to the monsters in "Pokémon GO" after Niantic's recent balance update -- specifically in the strongest Gym attackers list. Here are the new top 10 toughest Gym attackers in "Pokémon GO."

The updated Gym attackers tier list in "Pokémon GO" came from GamePress. The Pokémon included in the list all have impressive high attack stats and are capable of taking down almost any Gym defender at the quickest speed, with little amounts of potions used.

The new top 10 Gym attackers in "Pokémon GO" after the balance changes are Snorlax, Dragonite, Vaporeon, Rhydon, Alakazam, Gengar, Lapras, Exeggutor, Gyarados, and Omastar. If players want to boost their chances of beating Gym defenders, it's wise to use these tier one monsters as attackers.

Snorlax, Dragonite, and Vaporeon's strong standing as Gym attackers didn't come as a surprise, given that they've already placed in that ranking since "Pokémon GO" first rolled out. Rhydon, a Ground/Rock-type Pokémon, recently received better CP and its inclusion in the new top 10 Gym attackers list is totally expected, too.

The addition of Alakazam, however, can be surprising. GamePress said that the Psychic-type Pokémon was included in the list because of its speedy dodging skills, which is an advantage in "Pokémon GO" Gym battles.

Lapras, Exeggutor, and Gyarados placing in the strongest Gym attackers list aren't a phenomenon, as well. Like Alakazam, Gengar and Omastar's inclusions were unforeseen but the monsters' impressive dodging skills helped them cement their standing as the toughest Gym attackers in "Pokémon GO."

Other Pokémon have been buffed after the balance changes. They may not place in the top 10 strongest Gym attackers in "Pokémon GO," but they're still included in the top 27. Those are Slowbro, Golem, Venusaur, Tangela, Starmie, Blastoise, and Cloyster in tier two.

These Pokémon excel in specific counter-matchups and their attacks are just a bit weaker than those of the top 10. Arcanine, Charizard, Victreebel, Sandslash, Vileplume, Jolteon, Flareon, Muk, Jynx, and Nidoqueen placed in tier three, GamePress further listed.

In other news, Niantic confirmed this week on Twitter that more Pokémon are heading to "Pokémon GO," with full details set to be revealed on Dec. 12. There are speculations that the Legendary birds (Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos) would be released or the Generation 2 Pokémon list that contains 100 new monsters.
