Japan's arcade, mobile, and home video game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. started screening and giving a sneak peek for the upcoming Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road to Boruto game. The video featured a few gameplay and fighting style of the five characters, including Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto Uzumaki, and Sasuke Uchiha.

Bandai Entertainment also produced video, music, and other products that are connected with its video game. Namco Bandai Games was the company's original name but later in January 2014, the company decided to change their name to Bandai Namco Games. But on December 17, 2014, Bandai Namco Holdings reported that they will be revising it's gaming division name from Bandai Namco Games to Bandai Namco Entertainment, effective on April 1, 2015.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco Entertainment confirmed in November that the development will get a physical release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in North America. The company said that they already shipped 2 million copies worldwide. It was announced that the original game will include a "Welcome Price" edition that releases on November 22.

Road to Boruto update will be provided in a physical release, it will be a digital download release, and a DLC update release. The download release will include the full Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 game. DLC update release will only be available for players who already own the original game. It will also include a first-print limited edition downloadable soundtrack for the original game and the update. It will be downloadable from February 2 to March 1 and comes with a reversible box cover for the physical release.

In Japan, all versions will be released February 4, in Europe on February 5, and in North America on February 9. The North America release will have the full Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, and that includes the three DLC releases for the main game and the Road to Boruto Expansion, and will cost around US$49.99. But the announcement lists for the update is only for a PS4 version in Japan.

It will be the largest numbers of fighters in the series history and the roster is joined by characters from the war between Hashirama and Madara. The update will have 13 language options for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The game will have a new story mode, new players for both offline and online Battle Mode.
