Apple Starts Offering SIM-Free iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Models in U.S.

Apple has started offering SIM-free models of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in the U.S.. The unlocked model can be used on any carrier in the U.S. or abroad.

As usual, the SIM-free version is selling at full retail price. iPhone 6 16GB costs $649 and iPhone 6 Plus costs $749. Opting for the 64GB versions, would cost $100 extra while choosing 128GB edition will cost $200 extra to the base price.

SIM-free model means that users will no longer be stuck with a specific carrier under two-year contract. The unlocked model gives you freedom to choose among multiple carriers including AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile.

The unlocked/SIM-free model is identical to the subsidized versions model that are tied to a specific carrier. Apple is already offering unlocked versions of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for T-Mobile subscribers. The model comes with a T-Mobile SIM card installed.

The iPhone 6 SIM-free model is A1586, while the SIM-free iPhone 6 Plus model is A1524.
