'Dead Rising 4' Review - May Not Be As Good As The First Installment But Offers Improved Graphics; Creation Of Exo Suit
It has been ten years since the first "Dead Rising" was introduced to the world and now on its fourth installment. Without any changes, as usual, "Dead Rising" still does not have a plot but just focuses on killing thousands upon thousands of zombies in the most inventive ways possible. Meanwhile, aside from the excitement of killing, many costume changes were made available as well as large weaponry to choose from.
You can literally find weapons littered around everywhere. However, the player can collect special blueprints and combine two together for a more powerful weapon. A simple combat from a third person's perspective is being offered with the only real complication being a special combo attack if enemies were killed in a row, as reported by CGMag Online.
All features mentioned already exists from the prior installment, so what does the fourth installment have to offer? First, there are noticeable improvements in the graphics arena. A steady frame rate is maintained even with thousands of zombies are on the screen which is actually impressive.
A bonus feature is Frank's capabilities to take 'selfies' with the dead. These points are used to unlock a new four-prong skill tree. But although many of the abilities are useful few are particularly exciting, according to Metro.
Meanwhile, Exo Suits were created which is the only considered new genuine idea from the game. These can be found littered about the game world and grant you a go in a mech suit for a short amount of time .he Exo Suits can grant the player super powers and infinite stamina, including the ability to rip up and use nearby items, from street signs to a minigun that cannot be otherwise carried. Lastly, new kinds of zombies are also waiting to be killed.
GameSpot expressed mixed reviews for "Dead Rising 4." Reviewer Scott Butterworth enjoyed the relationship between Frank and his protege, Vick Chu, and concluded that it introduces "juxtaposition of slaughter and silliness [that] makes for a memorable world." However, he felt combat was too simplistic, and the game, overall, introduced very little challenge. That said, he recommended the game. "The surprisingly well-crafted story, wild new combo weapons, and expansive open world elements, however, turn Dead Rising 4 into an over-the-top piece of popcorn entertainment that captures the series' best elements," he concluded.
'Dead Rising 4' may have been just another game that failed to deliver new and exciting game plays. However, as game that allows you to kill unlimited zombies, this is a game for you if you want to spend an incredible amount of time as it does not end, unlike other games.
