Award-winning author George RR Martin warned fans about the next book in his hit series "A Song of Ice and Fire". In a recent interview, Martin told fans to be prepared for disappointment.

The next book of the series, aptly named "The Winds of Winter", is still being written. No publishing dates have been confirmed, but GRRM is already talking widely about his next book. Everybody knows the 68-year-old author have a problem with meeting deadlines, so don't expect this book on your shelves anytime soon.

It is highly likely that the famous HBO series, "Game of Thrones" seventh season will be released long before GRRM finished his book. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, George RR Martin revealed a few things fans can expect from the book.

The author mentioned: "There are a lot of dark chapters right now in the book that I'm writing. It is called The Winds of Winter, and I've been telling you for 20 years that winter was coming.

"Winter is the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fill the world, so this is not going to be the happy feel-good that people may be hoping for. Some of the characters [are] in very dark places." He even added, "In any story, the classic structure is, 'Things get worse before they get better,' so things are getting worse for a lot of people."

While "The Winds of Winter" is not going to be a happy book for its characters and the fans, GRRM promises that the "Dreams of Spring" will be better. "Dreams of Spring" will be the seventh and final book of the series, GRRM confirms.

The author previously dismissed all rumors pertaining to "Winds of Winter" and "Dreams of Spring" simultaneous release. The final ending to GRRM's hit saga is rumored to provide some light relief after the dark events of its predecessor. Martin did confirm this in an interview saying: "I'm not going to tell you how I'm going to end my book, but I suspect the overall flavor is going to be as much bittersweet as it is happy."
