Dwayne Johnson's Baywatch Release Date And Update: Paramount Pictures Moved Opening Day To Memorial Day Weekend
Paramount Picture announced that the reboot of 90's TV series Baywatch will be shown on May 26, 2017, Memorial Day weekend. Dwayne Johnson will play the role of Mitch Buchannon in the action-comedy reboot.
According to CB, the original schedule (May 19, 2016) was pushed back to May 26, 2017. This means Baywatch would go toe to toe against Sony's sci-fi "Life" which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rebecca Ferguson, together with Disney's fifth installment of the pirates of the Caribbean "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales".
The movie also stars Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Ilfenesh Hadera, Priyanka Chopra, Kelly Rohrbach, Jon Bass, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Hannibal Buress along with Baywatch originals Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff. Directing the movie from the screenplay is Seth Gordon, while Johnson and Dany Garcia through Seven Bucks Productions will produce the movie. Ivan Reitman, Beau Flynn, Doug Schwatz and Greg Bronan will also produce.
The latest script draft was written by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, however, the plot follows the story of Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) as he contends with a cocky new recruit (Zac Efron). Teaming up together they discovered a criminal plot that endangers the bay.
Baywatch was a hit drama action series during the 90's. It is about Los Angeles Lifeguards who patrols the beaches of LA and usually focused on beach related dangers, from shark attacks and earthquakes to serial killers served as a plot on the series. However, rescuing people from drowning was the most common situation in every episode. Baywatch stars David Hasselhoff as the original Mitch Buchannon and Pamela Anderson as C.J Parker
