Apple revealed to be working on a self-driving car. The company wrote to US transport regulators to be part as they developed the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation. However, it has no confirmation on what style it will take for the first automated driving car.

The Apple's Director of Product Integrity, Steve Kenner, wrote the letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The five-page letter had suggestions from Apple insiders  for the car plans. It also included policies that give hints of who are liable if a problem might occur. The user's privacy and the physical safety that would ensure the positive impact of the self-driving cars were stressed in the letter.

The company strongly calls for rules and policies that make the new entrants in the automotive industry receive the same treatment as incumbent manufacturers. It was stated that any newcomers should not have to disclose huge information before they would test run the vehicle on public roads in as safe manner.

The letter also reproves NHTSA to make policies that will protect drivers' privacy. Apple confirmed that they were working to re-arrange the team making the self-driving car technology focus in recent months. The giant technology company suggested that to prevent a huge number of car accidents and fatalities each year, the NHTSA should enhance the human experience.

When Bob Mansfield headed the Apple's auto division, it was reported that the team is reorganizing the Cupertino tech to develop the main chips within the auto-driving cars. Mansfield was one of the brains behind the iPad and MacBook Air.

Earlier this year, Ford was reported to release its self-driving cars by 2021. The company confirmed that it was working on what the Apple was building. Google has already tested self-driving cars on the roads. In October, Tesla revealed that their vehicles were hardware installed to drive on their own.
