Schumer's character will be a misfit and will live in a land of perfect Barbies whose arrival in the real world is still unclear yet. Schumer's different looks will turn to be an asset for her. As it is "Barbie", the movie is expected to be "a contemporary spin on beauty, feminism and identity" in the comedic-fantasy vein of Splash, Enchanted or Big, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The screenplay was written by Hilary Winston (The LEGO Ninjago Movie, the Bad Teacher TV series). Meanwhile, Amy Schumer and her sister Kim Caramele are expected to rewrite the script while a director is still currently being sought, ComingSoon.Net reported.

Speaking with dolls, Barbie dolls have been created based on different ethnicities, cultures, occupations such as from princess to president and from mermaid to movie star.

Barbie boasts a massive collection of 150 careers where she has portrayed that anything is possible for a modern woman, while still looking fabulous. Seriously, the line brings $2 billion dollars annually which had launched in 1959.

This said film marks the second collaboration between Sony Pictures and Mattel. The two production companies are also currently developing a film adaptation of "Masters of the Universe," based on Mattel's popular action figures, as reported by /FILM.
