Sylvester Stallone Tweets About Fifth and Last "Rambo" Movie
Putting an end to months of speculation, Sylvester Stallone of the "Rocky" fame, has finally announced that our favourite character John Rambo will appear one last time in his upcoming movie "Rambo: Last Blood".
The fifth and apparently the final "Rambo" movie features a troubled Vietnam veteran who was first seen in 1982 in the film titled: "Rambo: First Blood".
Stallone, 68, plays the role of "Rambo". He announced the news through Twitter, "Doing Scarpa based on Gangster Greg Scarpa after LAST BLOOD RAMBO...," Variety reports. "Scarpa", which he mentioned in his tweet, is a biopic based on the life of Gregory "the Grim Reaper" Scarpa.
Last time the audience witnessed Stallone as "Rambo" was seven years ago. The movie, titled "Rambo", had earned $113 million worldwide at that time.
John Rambo had first appeared in David Morrell's 1972 novel "First Blood". Since 2008, Stallone spoke about retiring the character and also about bringing him back in a last flick. According to Fox News, Stallone will be writing, directing as well as acting in the project.
According to CNN, the first in the series - "First Blood" -is about the Vietnam veteran on the run. In its sequel - "First Blood Part II", Rambo's quest to rescue U.S. prisoners of war is depicted. "Rambo III" released in 1988 and the fourth in 2008.
It is not only in the "Rambo" franchise that Stallone will reprise his role. He is returning to play Rocky Balboa for the seventh time. The flick, named "Creed", is expected to be filmed in Philadelphia and will be directed by Ryan Coogler. In the project, he will be playing the role of the trainer of Apollo Crainer's gradson, which is being played by Michael B. Jordan.
