Launched: World's Largest 15.6-inch Chromebook From Acer
Acer has launched the world's first Chromebook with 15.6-inch display ahead of the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
In terms of design, the Chromebook 15 looks exactly like the company's smaller Chromebook 13 models. With the increase in the size of display, the Chromebook 15 by Acer becomes the heaviest Chromebook, weighing 4.85 pounds, in the market.
Consumers will get to choose between 1080p or 1366 X 768 display resolution. Unlike the Chromebook 13 models, the display is a non-touchscreen. Users can also choose between Intel Core i3 or a Celeron processor. Two RAM options are 2GB and 4GB.
Chromebook 15 is powered by a yet to be revealed 5th generation Intel chip, unlike the Chromebook 13 model that is being powered by Nvidia K1. In terms of battery, Acer says it would run for 8 hours.
The Chromebook sports a USB 3.0, USB 2.0, an HDMI port and an SD reader.
The base price is $250 but it could surge, given the 1080p, Core i3, and 4GB RAM upgrades.
Things like how Chromebook 15 stands against the competition will get more clear once tech pundits have their hands on the device in the CES which kicks off coming Tuesday.
