Florida State Players Claimed their Cars were Keyed, Tires Slashed
Florida State players were dealt a low blow when they returned home and found their cars allegedly keyed and tires slashed. The number three seeded Seminoles had just missed out on the chance to go to the NCAA Football Championship when they lost to Oregon State by 59-20 in the Rose Bowl on Thursday.
On Saturday morning, linebacker Anthony Valdes shared these two revealing tweets on social media: "People actually keyd our cars and slashed our tires" and "Smh go 29-0 but lose one game and people don't know how to act."
Despite the events, the freshman showed his appreciation for his fans by also tweeting: "Shout out to all the true respectful fans love Yall."
Valdes is the only player to comment on the vandalism. According to Deadspin, one FSU fan tweeted that their car tire was also slashed. That tweet, however, has been deleted. No other reports have surfaced.
The Tallahassee Police Department's public information officers and the FSU Police Departments public information officers were not available for a comment. Last year, Doug Woolard, the South Florida athletic director, found his car tires slashed after the game against the University of Central Florida (UCF).
Getting to and winning a national football championship is very difficult. Oftentimes, fans can act rashly when their teams lose.
