Hillary Clinton Crashes UNICEF Gala To See 'Roar' Singer Katy Perry; Newly Engaged Perry Gets 'Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award'
Hillary Clinton gave Katy Perry a surprise visit at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball on Tuesday. The former presidential candidate crashed at the ball to hand the "Roar" singer the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award.
According to Time, Katy is one of the most loyal Hillary Clinton supporters during the 2016 US Presidential elections. The "Roar" singer has also been a good ambassador for UNICEF for three years.
During Hillary's introduction to Katy, the former presidential candidate described the "Fireworks" singer as "serious about understanding the complex problems we face and pulling people together to solve them," as quoted in the report. Clinton also said that the world needs more people like Katy who has the energy, passion and a voice that is "louder than a lion," which Hillary obviously got from Katy's song, "Roar."
Hillary also described Katy as a person who has compassion, one like Audrey Hepburn and added another quote from the same song stating that Katy teaches people to get back up when they are knocked down. The former presidential candidate's speech and her surprise appearance have earned her a standing ovation from the audience at the ball, according to New York Post.
After receiving the award from Hillary, Katy, in her acceptance speech, said that Hillary was the one who motivates her just like other millions of people. She also said that the former presidential candidate has lit a voice inside of her and that the light will always shine brighter.
Katy has promised to continue her humanitarian works. The "Roar" singer also said that the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award she received will be a reminder to always continue supporting the charity, a report from The Hollywood Reporter states.
Aside from the surprise visit Katy received from Hillary, the "Roar" singer has already received a surprise from her partner, Orlando Bloom who decided to go on his knees and propose to Katy. This has confirmed rumors about Katy being spotted flaunting a massive ring on her left ring finger.
