‘Amazon Echo’ Review And News: Gets Makeover As Touchscreen Is Added; What About ‘Amazon Echo Dot’?

It is reported that "Amazon Echo", the smart speaker from online retail giant is going for a major design and structural change. The makeover would change the device and a new 7-inch touchscreen will be added into it. The new device is expected to be announced officially in the first quarter of 2017. What about "Amazon Echo Dot"? Does it get any such modifications?

The voice assistant, digital control cum personal management device is being tested. The move to make Amazon Echo a touchscreen device is expected to make it independent of the smartphone and an ecosystem under Amazon will be created for that. Remember that Alexa app is being used in the smartphone and when the device goes for touchscreen, it might well work in the lines of smartphones and more integration and innovation can be executed.

The online behemoth would also be thinking that most of the smartphones available in the market are in iOS or Android platform and an own platform for Amazon at least for its own devices might help it win the smartphone war in the future. Amazon Echo has gotten excellent reviews, and by implementing a platform in the successful device, the users would get experienced with it. At a later point, cheaper but better smartphones in that platform may become successful.

Currently, Amazon Echo is working with the help of Alexa app and it might get replaced with on-screen functions in the future devices. There are reports that the new device would have far better sound quality and customized features. However, the report doesn't say anything about the Amazon Echo Dot, the smaller version of the device. Echo Dot recently received an updated version and reported best in reviews. It is priced at almost one-third of the former but offers almost every feature Amazon Echo provides.

It can be concluded that the Amazon Echo Dot is not expected to make touchscreen makeover. The retail giant would be having a strategy to keep Amazon Echo Dot as a simple and cheap device as the reviews say. While the experiments, remodeling, and innovations can be completely only on the Amazon Echo, where the user won't be price sensitive.
