CLAMP is reviving "Cardcaptor Sakura," the adorable hero and her sidekick Kero for a brand-new anime. The publisher released details about the highly anticipated series. As one of the most popular shojo franchises of all-time, "Cardcaptor Sakura" marks its 20th anniversary this year. Given CLAMP's fan-driven community, many fans had hoped that the company would produce a new anime in celebration of its anniversary.

In its January issue, Kodansha's Nakayoshi confirmed that CLAMP will bring "Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc" to the small screen in 2018. With its impending debut on NHK in January 2018, the sequel manga will be adapted into a full-length anime. Director Morio Asaka will return to the franchise, after having also directed the prior season, according to Anime News Network.

Of course, the series will also feature several returning cast members. Sakura Tange will reprise her role as heroine Sakura Kinomoto while Aya Hisakawa plays Keroberos. Junko Iwao will play Tomoyo Daidōji, Motoko Kumai will voice Syaoran Li, and Megumi Ogata will portray Yukito Tsukishiro, as reported by Comic Book.

The recent publication  will be followed by CLAMP as a basis for the plot of its new anime. The recent publication of "Cardcaptor Sakura" manga series follows Sakura Kinomoto after she graduates from Tomoeda Elementary School. Sakura after being tasked of caring for the magical Clow Cards will have an amazing adventure in junior high. The upcoming sequel will portray Sakura adjusting to her new life when she was plagued by a very strange dream that threatens to disrupt her peaceful life.

When the original "Cardcaptor Sakura" anime debuted in 1998, it has gained millions of fans in Japan and overseas. The manga was first published in 1996 and ran for four years and was sold for more than 12 million copies. After its worldwide success, Tokyopop as translated the manga series into English while Dark Horse has released an omnibus format of the series. The anime adaptation ran for two years, and two full-length films were published in 1999 and 2000.

Meanwhile, other popular anime series have undergone revival on its own. Toei Animation revived "Digimon" earlier this year with the new series "Digimon Adventure tri." while "Sailor Moon" was also remade into a series called "Sailor Moon Crystal" that featured all-new graphics and 3D animation.
