Microsoft and Apple are two of the largest tech companies in the market today, both dishing out devices that amaze users worldwide. The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is starting to look like it has a few key features that will give it the upper hand when it clashes with Apple's Macbook Pro 2016.

Apple's Macbook Pro 2016 is definitely one of the most awaited devices of the year since Apple's laptop line hasn't seen an upgrade in quite awhile. However, recent reports claim that the Macbook Pro 2016 is basically the same in terms of processor and memory, while the only significant difference is the new Touch Bar located at the top of its keyboard.

Moreover, Apple decided on another risky move when they reportedly ditched all other ports and only have the USB-C type connection as reported by Game N Guide. This puts users in a tight spot whereas they will be required to purchase certain adapters to utilize the Macbook Pro 2016.

With all these unflattering rumors about the upcoming Apple laptop, Microsoft may just use this to their advantage when they dish out the Microsoft Surface Book 2. The 2-in-1 hybrid laptop is slated for release in 2017 if rumors stay true. However, it is worth mentioning that there has yet to be any official announcement regarding the device.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 has experienced delays with good reason. According to International Business Times, Microsoft wants to ensure that the best chips will be incorporated under its hood including the upcoming Intel Kaby Lake processor. Previous reports claim that the said processor won't be out until the end of this year or early 2017. With that in mind, it is possible that Microsoft is waiting for the powerful processor to make the Surface Book 2 a more intimidating machine to compete with.

Although there have been reports that claim Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 is also waiting for the Intel Kaby Lake Processor, it seems that those have been slammed. There are new reports that claim that the Cupertino-based company has opted to retain the Intel Skylake chip for the MacBook Pro 2016. With that in mind, in terms of processor power, Microsoft may beat Apple when they lock horns next year.

Having the Intel Kaby Lake processor on board the device unlocks all kinds of benefits for the upcoming Microsoft Surface Book 2. That includes the ability to dish out a much higher resolution and 4K support regardless of the supposed 13.5-inch screen. Moreover, the processor also offers Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.1 Type-C support.

As for the release date of the Microsoft Surface Book 2, it is likely that the device will not see the light of day anytime soon since the Redmond-based tech giant just released the Surface Book i7.
