‘Overwatch’ Updates: Winter Event Is Coming
The most popular online game right now has been reported to be preparing for a winter event. Not only will “Overwatch” be possibly releasing a new mode, but Christmas-related audios and other more updates have been noticed lying around in the game recently.
“Overwatch” released a major patch earlier with the release of a new character named Sombra along with changes in the game modes. The classic Quick Play match has updated its character selection with single pick selection, which means that no one will have the same character in the same game. A new mode called No Limits have been updated within the Arcade Mode wherein players can use the same characters as other players.
The latest patch revealed a tougher Symmetra with the said character getting a major overhaul. But someone on Reddit that goes by the username, Venxa, went on ahead to check the audio files included in the latest update. He has bumped into rather major files that might just hint on a new mode and an upcoming event within the world of “Overwatch”.
Apparently, a remix of the game’s theme song had been uploaded, which was most likely a Christmas version with all the familiar jingle bells and chimes used. Aside from that, Athena, the voice over in “Overwatch”, has been given new lines, which might just be a tease of a new mode in the game. The new lines included one that has Athena saying “Now entering the arena.” And the other two lines use the words challenger and gladiator.
Fans have speculated through Athena’s new lines that there is a huge possibility that a new arena mode and even a new map might just appear. Nothing has been made concrete yet but it is pretty clear that “Overwatch” is preparing for a themed event with the Christmas holidays fast approached. Using themes as events is nothing new in the world of “Overwatch” as it held events during Halloween and in summer.
Signs that winter is coming has been pretty noticeable lately with parts of the in-game maps such as Volskaya Industries and Nepal, have their grounds getting a bit icy with frozen water. “Overwatch” is a multiplayer first person video game by Blizzard Entertainment made for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It was released in May 2016.
