'No Man's Sky' Patch: Foundation Update Now Live; Adds Base-Building, New Modes, And More
Barely a week from the said rumors, Hello Games finally launched the so-called major patch for "No Man's Sky" called the "Foundation Update" earlier today for the PlayStation 4. So to those players who have not given up on the action-adventure survival video game or have not asked for refunds yet, might want to check out the huge changes the new NMS update has brought.
The recently released "No Man's Sky" update, Version 1.1, features new game modes, building bases, new technology, save points, and many new additions. Hello Games has mentioned previously that the Foundation Update is the "first of many free patches" and will serve as "foundation for things to come" for the highly controversial space exploration game.
"No Man's Sky" update - Game Modes
Based on "No Man's Sky" official website, the latest update adds "No Man's Sky" game modes. Gamers can choose to go with different rules based on whichever of the three: Normal mode (the original exploration adventure), Creative mode (can build a large base, no limit in exploring the universe) and Survival mode (for those who want a more challenging experience, test endurance).
"No Man's Sky" Base Building
Players can now construct a building for their shelter "using modular structures and decorations, replicated from resources while exploring." They are now also able to recruit aliens to aid them in researching for new technology. This new "No Man's Sky" feature will also allow players to expand their base for piling resources and rare items. Additionally, they can opt to "dismantle" the homestead and receive refunds if they wish to move to another location.
"No Man's Sky" Farming
The "No Man's Sky" Foundation Update also brought the ability for players to "cultivate biome-dependent crops outdoors, inside your base or Freighter using Hydroponic Labs". They can also opt to hire a farming specialist to help them research and grow new plant types and discover new resources.
"No Man's Sky" update brings more features
The latest "No Man's Sky" patch also brought the ability for players to put save points anywhere throughout the game which is essential for those playing the Survival mode. Additionally, they can now buy interstellar Freighters and "summon them from anywhere in the galaxy".
In regards to "No Man's Sky" user interface, players can now also pile up to five times per inventory slot which means, more capacity for the base container, starship, and freighter storage. And yes, even the visuals have been improved by removing the color tint. And for those who want a more realistic feel when playing "No Man's Sky," Hello Games added Motion Blur to "accentuate the feeling of speed, particularly when in-flight."
