Bono revealed that he may never play the guitar again after his bicycle accident. The 54-year-old Irish frontman of the rock band, U2, posted an entry on the band's website stating that his recovery process has been slower than expected.

Bono got into a bicycle accident with another cyclist in New York City's Central Park this past November. He broke his arm in six places, and fractured an eye socket and shoulder blade. He has had multiple surgeries since the accident. However, his recovery has been difficult.

In the New Year's Day post titled "Little Book of a Big Year: Bono's A to Z of 2014," Bono wrote, "Recovery has been more difficult than I thought. As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again. The band have reminded me that neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this."

He added, "I personally would very much miss fingering the frets of my green Irish falcon or my (RED) Gretsch. Just for the pleasure, aside from writing tunes. But then does the Edge, or Jimmy Page, or any guitarist you know have a titanium elbow, as I do now? I'm all elbows, I am."

The musician also wrote about how he "blanked out on impact and have no memory of how [he] ended up in New York Presbyterian."

Despite how slow the recovery process has been, Bono is focused on getting better. His band mates, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, have been supportive.

Bono has cancelled all his public appearance gigs for the first half of 2015. He stated that he has not been able to move around much and will also focus on getting his fitness back in time for the U2 tour that is due to start in May.
