The recent update on No Man's Sky official website says that "The Foundation Update" is coming "this week." Fans have been waiting anxiously for this update ever since the game's release.

The name of the update, as some fans will know, has a double meaning behind it: it symbolizes that base-building mechanics which will be added to the game. And it also puts in place a foundation for what's to come.

The rest of the post also addressed Hello Games' extended silence since the September patch saying:

In the nine weeks since then our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update. It won't be our biggest update, but it is the start of something.

Hello Games also took a moment to address the controversy surrounding No Man's Sky recent release back in August. The post said:

The discussion around No Man's Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.

Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.

This update will be the first small step in a longer journey. We hope you can join us.

No Man's Sky has been one of the most popular games to date since its release back in August 2016. Although no additional details were revealed on the post, detailed patch notes will come on the game's blog page.

It is also confirmed that the release of the update is coming "soon". Hello Games studio was silent since October when the developer's email and social media accounts were hacked by a dissatisfied employee.

The issue was reported to be addressed in private, and Hello Games did not comment about it any further than a handful of tweets. Fans of the game are happy to see Hello Games breaking their silence.
