Guardians of Peace, the group that hacked Sony Pictures has reportedly threatened media houses.

According to Fox News, an FBI bulletin that was issued on December 24 last year details the threat to unnamed media organizations in the near future. While no details of the threat or when an attack could occur was provided, an FBI spokesperson reportedly confirmed that the bulletin was issued. The spokesperson said the agency routinely shares information with private sector though at this time there is no credible information regarding an attack.

The bulletin also refers to a message posted on the Internet taunting the media organization and FBI for conducting investigations into Sony Pictures hack, The Intercept, which obtained the bulletin, reported. It is known that CNN was the media organization GoP spoke about in their message.

"While it's hard to tell how legitimate the threat is, if a news organization is attacked in the same manner Sony was, it could put countless sensitive sources in danger of being exposed-or worse," executive director of the Freedom of the Press Foundation Trevor Timm said according to New York Post.

The FBI during its investigations spelt out North Korean involvement which the latter has denied. Though security experts have claimed that the hack looks like an insider job and did not appear to have been perpetuated Pyongyang, FBI has maintained that DPRK is involved. The Sony hack in November resulted in expose of company information including employee mails, salary details and unreleased movies. Sony Pictures was hacked by GoP in a bid to prevent it from releasing its movie The Interview, which features assassination plot of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
