‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Updates; Michelle Yeoh 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' Actress Boards; To Play As Captain Han Bo?
The 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' star Michelle Yeoh is setting up for her upcoming TV series to premiere this 2017. The actress will be part of the newest CBS' "Star Trek: Discovery" which she is set to play as a Starfleet Captain.
The talented Malaysian-born actress had been thrown in an anonymous part in CBS' up and coming "Star Trek: Discovery". This was the first part of the selection of characters to be announced for the series, and it came as a welcome news taking after the takeoff of Bryan Fuller as showrunner.
Normally, given the announcement, many fans were left pondering who Yeoh would play. According to most reports, she has been cast as Captain Han Bo who leads her ship Shenzhou. Given that she was the primary on-screen character to be selected, it wasn't quite a bit of a surprise to see many guessing on who she would play the part in the new show.
Reports of Yeoh's casting originated from producer and filmmaker Nicholas Meyer, who helmed the second and 6th movies in the first Star Trek film series (Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country) and was talking at an occasion respecting his exemplary time travel story 'Time After Time'.
The all-new "Star Trek: Discovery" series was first announced last November. The underlying plan was that the show would turn into the first original series to launch on CBS' All Access service.
