The "Allied" film is a wartime romance set in the older age. The film features Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard but some keep seeing Angelina Jolie in their eyes. Is "Allied" like "Mr. and Mrs. Smith?" Find out the resemblance and the difference.

"Allied" was said to be a relic from the old age rather than from "Mr. and Mrs. Smith's" comedy-thriller genre. Although they put it that way, viewers will always be able to connect the two as Brad Pitt starred in both films. Both are about spy couples and both of them have a very sexy pair, Brad Pitt with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt with Marion Cotillard.

The new film "Allied" was written by Steven Knight. Despite the alleged comparison of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" with "Allied", the muse of the film was the film "Casablanca." The script of the film was comfortingly good to hear and straightforward, just like the old times. The film was set in early-to-mid 1940s and Brad Pitt touching down in the Moroccan desert opens the film.

Films set in old age like "Allied" had lots of barriers and challenges to face, like the present environment with technology all around and the history itself. Writing a script that depicts something that was may have happened in the history would be hard, and the writer of "Allied", Steven Knight, had an unambiguous attribution of the war between the Nazis and the Allies.

The story of "Allied" came across the writer as he was staying 30 years ago in America. A friend's Aunt told him a story about a Special Operations Executive during the World War II. The brother of the Aunt got a French resistor pregnant and in the end, the girl needed to be killed as she was a spy. Steven Knight believed that it is true and thought that this story would someday be turned into a film.
