Tables are turning for Gigi Hadid as supporters of President-elect Donald Trump and future first lady Melania Trump call the supermodel a bully. Gigi Hadid has released a handwritten message apologizing to people she offended for impersonating Melania Trump at the 2016 AMAs.

The 21-year-old Tommy Hilfiger designer co-hosted the 2016 American Music Awards on Sunday evening, November 20. During the opening monologue, Gigi impersonated the future first lady, mimicking her speech which was reportedly plagiarized from Michelle Obama's speech, using a fake Slovenian accent, reports The Huffington Post.

Gigi Hadid plumped her lips, and began saying, "I love my husband, President Barack Obama, and our children, Sasha and Malia."

On the other hand, Gigi's co-host Jay Pharoah also impersonated Jay Z. But it seemed that some have lost their temper on Gigi alone.

People who has seen the impersonation has bombarded Gigi on Twitter and Facebook, calling the supermodel a "bully" and a "racist." Others thought that the joke was rude, hateful and disrespectful, according to USA Today.

Following the negative reactions the supermodel received from people on social media, the supermodel posted a handwritten message on her Twitter account for her apology.

Gigi, on her statement said that she was honored to host the AMAs and to work with some of the most respected writers. The supermodel said that she tweaked the script, removed and changed lines that she thought "took the joke too far." Gigi also said that she has also experienced the same, being part of a comedy skit but did not take the joke too far.

"I believe Melania understands show business and the way shows are written and run," Gigi added and closed the statement by apologizing to anyone who was offended.

On the other hand, co-host Jay Pharoah also posted on Facebook about his opinion on the impersonation. He said that they exaggerated the speech at the AMAs, "where Melania CLEARLY PLAGIARIZED," and said that they did not call the future first lady ugly, and manish, or anything.
