The popular monster hunting video game is finally hitting the big theaters. Capcom's popular video game, Monster Hunter is set to make its debut on the big screens. And it seems that the people behind Resident Evil will take over the production.

Monster Hunter has a strong fanbase in Japan and China and surprisingly, in the United States too. The game tells the story about a hero who protects and defends villages in a fantasy set setting by fighting different kinds of monsters. The game is very heavy in terms of player interaction and encourages co-op plays with other people.

In an interview via Siliconera, writer-director W.S Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt will be handling their next video game-turned-movie project which is Monster Hunter. Fresh from their production of the upcoming latest installment of the Resident Evil movies, "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter". They said that Monster Hunter will be using the same visual and SFX used in Resident evil. According to Deadline's interview with Anderson and Bolt, they revealed that they've already started the pre-production process and went to Capcom to acquire the rights.

Below is the pitch Anderson used when acquiring the rights from Capcom, via Deadline:

"An ordinary man in a dead end job discovers that he is actually the descendant of an ancient hero. He must travel to a mystical world to train to become a Monster Hunter, before the mythical creatures from that world destroy ours."

Bolt said that is different. Resident Evil is more of the sci-fi/horror genre of action while Monster Hunter takes place in a fantasy-themed setting. They're all excited in venturing into the fantasy genre, something which they aren't accustomed to. Anderson also added, "It's about a normal American who gets dragged into this parallel world, this Monster Hunter world. Then eventually the parallel world ends up coming to our world. So you have the creatures from the Monster Hunter world invading our world."

Monster Hunter is a role-playing video game developed and published by Capcom in 2004. Because of its success, it garnered different sequels in different platforms such as Playstation Portable, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS. There is not schedule for its movie release but fans are very much anticipating its debut.
