Symmetra: The First Overwatch Character to Get Another Ultimate Ability!
In most of Multiplayer Online Games, Heroes or Champions only get one ultimate ability. With Overwatch's upcoming patch update, Symmetra will finally have her rework on her abilities. She'll have not only one but two ultimate abilities!
According to Lead designer Jeff Kaplan, he said that "Symmetra is going to be the first character in Overwatch to actually have a choice of ultimates." An update on her existing abilities is also underway. A detailed information about her rework, courtesy of PC Gamer, tells us some improvements on her existing skills.
-
Symmetra's primary fire can now lock on up to seven meters.
-
Symmetra can now hold six charges for setting up turrets. Also, the cooldown of her turrets has decreased to ten from the previous twelve seconds cooldown.
What added to her skill roster is an update on her E. Symmetra now gains an ability called Photon Barrier. It acts as a shield similar with Reinhart's and travels in a straight line. The barrier won't stop moving until it is destroyed or hit the wall. It has a ten-second cooldown and has a one thousand health.
What really changed in Symmetra's abilities aside from the Photon Barrier is that she gained a new ultimate ability called Shield Generator. While her Teleporter ultimate is still around for the fray, Symmetra players can now choose which of her ultimates to project to her generators on the battlefield. Shield Generator places a device on the ground that generates a shield to any nearby teammate in range. Its range ignores walls and terrains so there's no exact information on how far can her Shield Generator take effect. As long as teammates are in the vicinity of Symmetra's Shield Generator, they'll instantly gain a shield.
Kaplan stated that Symmetra's the first Overwatch hero to have a choice between two ultimates. He's positive that players will tend to choose her more now that her skills have been drastically improved and her existing ones are buffed to determine if she is effective in sieges.
