Kanye West Rants About Trump, Cancels Concert, Hospitalized for 'Temporary Psychosis’
Kanye West was set to perform at the Forum in Los Angeles on Sunday, but Ticketmaster announced its cancellation a few hours before it was slated to start at 8 PM, confusing the fans who had already bought the tickets.
The rapper's representatives haven't yet delivered an explanation for the cancellation, but West's performance in his concert the past few days may shed some light on the reason of the show's postponement.
Rapper Rants in the Middle of the Concert
West's Saint Pablo Tour show in San Jose last Thursday received mix reactions - not for the performance, but for the rapper's political rant. West started his speech by saying that he didn't vote in the 2016 elections. What stumped the audience more is that he revealed that he would have voted for Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Although he had attended Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton's fundraiser with wife Kim Kardashian, West said, during his concert, that he thought Trump's campaign approach was "f***ing genius".
West furthered confused and angered the crowd when he said that black people should not focus on racial issues because, "The world is racist, OK? We are a racist country."
Many fans took to Twitter to broadcast the events live. According to Independent, West called out both Trump and Clinton supporters, saying that respects both sides. When a fan threw a shoe at West during his political speech, the rapper merely signed it and threw it back.
West also told the crowd that he would run for president in 2020, and will focus on changing the educational system. Social media exploded with posts from dissatisfied fans who only got to hear four songs from the rapper who interjected diatribes in the middle of the show.
Late to Saturday Concert and Only Performs Four Songs
Next, on his Saturday concert in Sacramento on Nov. 19, the rapper went into another monologue (after arriving late for the performance). This time, he called out fellow musicians Jay Z and Beyoncé after performing only four tracks.
West was reportedly "hurt" that Beyoncé didn't want to perform at the MTV VMAs unless she won Video of the Year, and that artists were "playing the politics too much - just to win". He went on to talk about Clinton and Mark Zuckerberg. The rapper cut his concert short, leaving fans in the air, when he vacated the stage after his rant. The show was only 30 minutes long.
Hospitalized After Attacking Gym Staff - Due to Exhaustion?
In just a few days, West had angered his fans and showed poor performance in his concerts, singing just four tracks in each one, which were not enough for the fans, some of whom bought as much as a $250 ticket.
Even though the Forum concert will give out refunds, one fan told CNN, "The damage has already been done when it comes to how some people feel about Kanye now after this performance."
This Monday, the rapper was taken to the UCLA Medical Center, according to reports by USAToday. West's physician called 911 Emergency after his patient dubbed "Jim Jones" attacked a staff from a gym.
According to West's physician, Dr. Michael Frazam, West is suffering from a "temporary psychosis" due to sleep deprivation, dehydration, and exhaustion.
